About This Tier List

This PvE tier list ranks Magia Record magical girls based on their performance in story quests, event stages, and tower content. Rankings consider damage output, survivability, team support value, ease of use, and versatility across different content types. Tier lists are inherently opinionated — treat this as a starting framework, not an absolute rule.

Note: Rankings reflect the general game state and are subject to change as new characters and balance updates are released.

Tier Definitions

  • S-Tier: Dominant in most content. Worth building even if you have to wait for resources.
  • A-Tier: Excellent characters that perform consistently well. Reliable in most team compositions.
  • B-Tier: Solid units with specific strengths. Perform well when built around properly.
  • C-Tier: Situational picks. Useful in niche scenarios but generally outclassed.
  • D-Tier: Outdated or undertuned. Only recommended if you have no better options.

S-Tier — The Best of the Best

CharacterRoleWhy S-Tier
Homura Akemi (Swimsuit)Attacker / Charge DPSExceptional burst damage, self-sufficient charge generation, delay on Magia.
Iroha Tamaki (Awoken)Hybrid Support/DPSStrong heals, team buffs, and reliable single-target damage in one package.
Tsuruno YuiPure AttackerFire-attribute powerhouse with one of the highest raw damage outputs in the game.
Mifuyu AzusaBuffer / DebufferTeam-wide attack buffs and enemy defense debuffs make every other unit hit harder.

A-Tier — Highly Recommended

CharacterRoleNotes
Kaede AkinoAttackerForest-attribute specialist, great against water-weak bosses.
Momoko TogameTank / SupportReliable taunter who keeps squishier allies alive.
Felicia MitsukiAttackerHigh physical damage output, good against armored enemies.
Sana FutabaHealer / BarrierIncredible survivability tools, great for sustain-heavy stages.

B-Tier — Solid Picks

B-Tier characters are perfectly capable in the right teams. Characters like Rena Minami, Yachiyo Nanami (base), and Hinano Miyako all perform well in their respective attribute matchups and offer useful utility skills. They're worth building if they're already in your roster, but you wouldn't necessarily target them in gacha.

C & D Tier — Situational or Outdated

Many launch-window characters fall into C or D tier simply due to power creep. Older versions of characters like early-game Madoka Kaname variants or pre-awakening units tend to be outclassed by their upgraded counterparts. If you have these characters, prioritize awakening them before investing heavily in the base form.

How to Use This Tier List

  1. Start by identifying what your current team lacks (healing, damage, buffs).
  2. Look at S and A-tier units in that role.
  3. Check attribute matchups — a B-tier unit of the right attribute often beats an S-tier of the wrong one.
  4. Invest resources in characters you'll use long-term, not just for one event.

Remember: any character fully awakened and properly geared can clear the majority of story content. Tier lists matter most at endgame difficulty. Don't stress about not having S-tier units as a newer player.
